About Christin N Hunt

I strongly believe that the JOY of music is the foundation to a great musical experience.  With that in mind, I create each lesson around the students' goals and musical pursuits, while utilizing that motivation towards excellence in theory, performance, history and an even greater joy of music.

Being that my mom taught piano from my infancy through beyond my college years, I have been immersed in the world of music and the wonder therein for quite a while.  With such a terrific example as my mom, it was natural that I began teaching piano as early as Jr. High.  Having also developed my talent and love for the vocal instrument, I graduated from The Master's College with a degree in Vocal Performance and, with those tools, have taught voice for 4 years.  Having been given the unique opportunity to pursue my love of music from a very early age I am thrilled to pass that joy on to my students in every lesson.

"My joy is found not merely in teaching music, but allowing my students to LOVE music.
I believe that is the foundation to a truly rewarding musical experience."

The first lesson is ALWAYS FREE. Your music teacher is the one who introduces you to what music "should" be, yet it's always filtered through his or her perspective. I believe that, when it comes to private music lessons, the teacher and student must be able to communicate on a similar plane; the "should" of musical existence must be pursued as an extension of the student themselves, yet still tapping into the history and depth of the original composer. The free introductory lesson will allow me to better understand my potential students, and they me, in hopes that we will 'click' and thus find the greatest joy possible in our musical adventure.

I enjoy creating lessons based on my students' individual goals. If you want to sing Taylor Swift, sure! You will be learning the classical approach to her pieces, however, and will inadvertently learn music history in the process! All you want to do is learn to play Fur Elise? Ok. You may end up learning some 7th and 9th chords as well! You WILL be directed towards your goal, but it WILL entail music history, performance and theory. ...But it will be fun!
