Pricing and Policies

Private
Voice and Piano lessons are typically offered in 30-minute sessions.
I accept cash or checks (made payable to Christin N Hunt) or PayPal.
For those committed to the Studio, I work on a semester
system, pre-paid at the
first lesson of each semester. Each semester includes 2 floating "Studio
Breaks", as determined by the instructor.* For those still feeling out the Studio, rates are $130/month, pre-paid at the first lesson of each month. Lessons may also be pursued on an every-other-week basis.
Quarters run in the following months: Fall Semester: September -
November Spring Semester: January -
March There will be no lessons in December, May or August. |
Cancellation Policy
Lessons canceled or missed by the student will not be refunded, credited, or provided with a make-up lesson, whether such cancellation was anticipated or unanticipated. However, in the event of an anticipated cancellation, students should provide at least 72 hours’ advanced notice so that the studio can attempt to reschedule the student’s lesson or use the space for other Studio business. For anticipated cancellations, I do not provide a make-up lesson, but upon request, I may offer a rescheduled time only in the event another student cancels in the same week. Studio closures for holidays or personal reasons will pull from the allotted floating “Studio Breaks” in each quarter.
No-Shows
No-shows, as with cancellations, will not be refunded, credited, or
provided with a make-up lesson. Students with 2 consecutive no-shows (late or no communication regarding their absence) will be put on lesson probation. 3 consecutive no-shows and the student will be suspended from the Studio, with no refunds or credits for any pre-payment.
Other Fees
Quarterly payment does not include the cost of the student’s books (piano: typically averaging $30/year; voice: approximately $20/year). All students must own a metronome and pianists should have a book of fingering for scales and cadences, both of which I will make available for new students.
Recitals
There is no charge for the recitals I host each year. Students are strongly encouraged to participate, as this is a crucial element in the musical performance aspect of each lesson. Students will have prepared up to 4 pieces for the recital, which will be followed by a finger-food potluck.
Discounts
First Lesson
Apart from gift certificates and special offers, the first lesson is always free. I believe that, in order to glean the most from private music lessons, the student must 'click' with the instructor. The introductory lesson serves as an avenue to discover if I am the right teacher for the student at that time.
Semester System
Compared to paying $60/hour for each individual lesson, each quarter saves the equivalent of 2-3 lessons per season.
*Studio breaks may not always line up with public school holidays.
